At SICHN Unit SBA, we recently witnessed the inspiring fight of a newborn battling for survival. This brave little soul, who required ventilator support twice and endured a long hospital stay, was finally diagnosed with Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD), a rare and life-threatening metabolic disorder.
Thanks to the expertise and timely decisions of Dr. Muhammad Usman Ghumro (HOD Neonatology, SICHN Unit-SBA), the right diagnosis was made at the right moment, giving this child a second chance at life. For the parents, it was nothing short of a miracle.
Dr. Usman, an Aga Khan University graduate, blends world-class training with compassion, bringing advanced neonatal care to Nawabshah where such specialized services are scarce. His dedication is raising the standard of child health in Sindh and bringing hope to families in their most difficult moments.
We are proud of his remarkable contribution and pray for his continued success in his noble mission of saving young lives.
