Success Stories
Date: 30-Oct-2024
At the Sindh Institute of Child Health and Neonatology (SICHN), every success story reminds us of the power of compassionate care and professional expertise. One such story is that of Noor — a young boy whose life, along with his family's, was transformed through dedicated Occupational Therapy (OT) intervention.
Noor, diagnosed with autism, once faced significant challenges in his daily activities. His condition not only limited his own experiences but also impacted his family’s social life. Noor’s mother often stayed home, unable to attend family gatherings, overwhelmed by the demands of managing his needs in public spaces. Feelings of isolation and helplessness became a routine part of their lives.
This changed when Noor was introduced to Sumbul Rizvi, a passionate and highly skilled Occupational Therapist at SICHN. With a customized therapy plan focused on building Noor’s sensory, motor, and social skills, Sumbul worked closely with Noor and his family. Through consistent therapy sessions, patience, and evidence-based practices, Noor gradually developed greater independence, improved communication skills, and better coping mechanisms for social environments.
Today, Noor's mother proudly shares how she can now attend family functions with joy, witnessing her son actively participate rather than retreat. Noor’s transformation is not just about meeting milestones — it is about achieving a life of dignity, inclusion, and independence.
At SICHN, we are committed to empowering families through holistic child health services. Our Occupational Therapy Department focuses on enhancing children's abilities, encouraging their full participation in daily life activities, and supporting families in navigating developmental challenges with confidence.
Globally, Occupational Therapy has become a cornerstone of pediatric and neonatology practices, ensuring that children with special needs are integrated into their communities, schools, and families with dignity. At SICHN, we follow these global best practices, customized for regional needs across Karachi, Sukkur, Nawabshah, and other cities in Sindh.
We proudly recognize and celebrate professionals like Sumbul Rizvi, who embody the spirit of dedication, innovation, and heartfelt care. Stories like Noor’s reaffirm our mission to make quality child healthcare accessible, inclusive, and transformative.
If you know a family who could benefit from Occupational Therapy, encourage them to connect with SICHN today. Together, we can create more stories of hope and healing.
